Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was a television personality, a ex-chef in the Institute of Culinary Education and formerly teaches cooking. She hosts the Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-host of Worst Cooks in America. With her trademark spiky blond hair and pumped-up personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of restaurant dishes and reveals straightforward, simple techniques to master to cook at home on her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell was employed for a time in New York at top restaurants as well as studied Italian cuisine tradition and its environment. Also, she was a contestant on Iron Chef America on Food Network. Growing up in the Upstate region of New York Chef Burrell was inspired by food. The Culinary Institute of America is where she went to earn an English degree as well as a communications certificate in Canisius College Buffalo NY. The student says "I loved being a Culinary Institute of America student. I enjoyed every moment." I didn't have enough knowledge, couldn't achieve enough and couldn't push myself enough. After graduating, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany and La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) during her time at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. Her time spent in Italy has helped her understand and appreciate the Italian philosophy and culture, and this has left an impact on her own food and culinary experience. Burrell participates on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which brightens the lives of kids who struggle. Burrell is also a Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation celebrity advocate, where she promotes awareness of the condition of children with diabetes. Burrell travels extensively across the nation in her capacity as a mentor as well as a guest speaker where she discusses her professional life and the joy of cooking. Anne always felt fortunate that she had the opportunity to share her love of her life, sharing her cooking skills with other people.
